Kaling: phase-three damage allocation

Why party damage cannot be pooled freely across Kaling's simultaneous targets.

Location changes eligible damage

Nexon's v271 notes restrict ordinary damage to a Peril to the character's current zone. Frenzied Kaling remains eligible from other zones, and Ascent skills can reach Perils across zones. The listed projectile exceptions use the zone where the skill was cast.

Keep targets and assignments separate

Model Perils as distinct work pools with explicit member assignments. Finishing one target early does not transfer its excess damage to another automatically. A single sum of the party's scores or DPS would lose the location and eligibility rules that determine where damage can land.

Eligibility is not a clear-time model

A hit allowed by the zone rule can still miss or encounter invulnerability. This reference does not infer rotations, travel times, phase HP partitions or post-change HP from approximate publisher percentages. Keep those missing pieces visible when planning a measurement.

Mechanic source: Nexon GMS v271 patch notes, checked October 11, 2026. Publisher facts are kept separate from historical HP assumptions. The cited phase-three rule is not individually difficulty-qualified in that section; this page does not supply difficulty-specific HP or clocks.

What supports an estimate?

A matched measured damage input, explicit phase and target work, uptime, buffs and encounter clocks are needed. Current HEXA-only clear-time calibration is incomplete. See how solo and party estimates are interpreted.
